Awards for those who make a difference
Nominations are now open for an award scheme that recognises local people who have made a real difference to their community.
Town & Country Housing Group are looking for their residents to nominate individuals or groups of people for the annual Val Joy awards.
The Val Joy awards are open to any tenant or resident on a Town & Country estate and any person or group nominated must currently carry out work or an activity which is unpaid and which shows their commitment to the local community. This may be something that makes a significant difference to the life of a group of individuals, or benefits their community overall.
There are five nomination categories this year:
Community Group of the Year
A group or trust that has organised projects, events and or improvements that have made a real change to a Town & Country neighbourhoods.
Neighbourhood Champion of the Year and all round good egg!
A caring individual with a passion to campaign for a better community who gets results.
A caring individual or family who look out for people who live close by.
Champion/s for a safer environment
A person or people who have stood up and worked for a safer environment helping to stamp out anti-social behaviour.
Block Champion of the Year
A Block Champion who has gone the extra mile.

The awards ceremony will be held in the first week of June.
The Val Joy Awards were introduced in memory of Val Joy, who made a huge difference through her voluntary work in the Sherwood community.
