Contractors' forum strengthens partnerships and brings benefits for tenants
The South East Consortium (SEC), which covers more than 70,000 properties across the South East, was officially launched at the start of 2007, as a direct result of Government funding to set up local procurement consortia to boost buying power.
The second bi-annual Contractors' Forum was attended by all current SEC contractors for internal and external building works, grounds maintenance and lift maintenance; and also hopefuls for the contracts for gas servicing and heating installation, which will be awarded this month.
The Forum went some way towards meeting an SEC commitment to consult with and listen to the views of its contractors.
Mary Bennell, director of procurement and assets for AmicusHorizon Group, and SEC vice chair, said: "Feedback was very encouraging, in particular the workshop held with the Framework Contractors. Important contacts were made and the SEC was given the opportunity to share with contractors their hopes for future procurement."
The SEC is set up as a contractual body managed by a board of nominated individuals from each member organisation. The core group consists of mhs Group Ltd, Russet Homes, Town & Country Housing Group and West Kent Housing Association. The AmicusHorizon Group is the lead accountable body for SEC.
The next Forum is planned for May 2008.
