Town & Country's Sherwood trailblazer wins double accolade

Consultation with Sherwood residentsTown & Country’s TSA local offer ‘trailblazer’ in Sherwood has been featured in a special TSA publication and also highlighted as an example of good practice on the Housemark website.

The TSA has set National Standards in six key areas. Housing associations now have to enhance them by developing local standards or ‘offers’ which set out how the standards will be tailored to meet the needs of local communities.

More than 180 housing providers applied to act as a trailblazer for local offers and Town & Country was one of just 39 which were successful.

We worked with residents in Sherwood, where we have 1,148 tenancies, to set local service standards for cleaning, caretaking and grounds maintenance.

The standard has been published by the TSA in their booklet ‘Going Local – Landlords and tenants working together to raise standards’ which promotes the success of the trailblazers.

More detailed information on the way in which the local offer was developed and the lessons that we learned is published on the Housemark website. HouseMark is jointly owned by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) and the National Housing Federation (NHF), and is the social housing sector’s leading provider of performance improvement services.

A number of other housing associations have already contacted us to find out more after reading about the Sherwood pilot.  We would like to thank everyone who worked on or supported this project for their hard work and enthusiasm. We have to develop local offers for all areas by April 2011.
