As your landlord we have a duty and legal responsibility to make sure that all our electrical installations are maintained so they are safe for you to use. Your home should have a check every five years and this involves a visit by an engineer. The visit is similar to a gas service although the appointment takes longer.

We understand residents’ concerns that appointments are being requested during this difficult time and we wanted to explain the reasons for doing this. We need to strike a balance between maintaining your home so that it’s safe for you to live in and minimising the risk of spreading the virus to you and your family, as well as to our workers.

If no-one in your family has symptoms, we are asking that you allow us access to carry out these tests as they are essential to ensuring your home is safe. The appointment can take between 2 and 3 hours and we ask that you maintain social distancing throughout this time. If we find a problem with your electrics, we can usually put it right during the same appointment but in some cases we may need to come back, especially if there is a lot of work needed.

We are asking for your co-operation in allowing access for these appointments. Our first concern is for your safety and we’re only contacting those residents who we know need an inspection now. We will work with you and take the time to talk through any concerns you have, so if you are called please tell us what we can do to help make the appointment possible and as worry free as we can.

Please be assured that our engineers are all required to adhere to strict personal hygiene procedures and between visits will clean their hands and tools. We will not allow any of our engineers to attend an appointment if they are unwell or showing any virus symptoms.
