Improving our estates
Every year we carry out work on a number of our homes to improve the external and communal areas. This year the work is taking place mainly in Pembury, Lamberhurst, Brenchley, Horsmonden, Kilndown, Five Oak Green, Matfield and central Tunbridge Wells.
Most properties in Pembury have now been completed except the leaseholder flats which required consultation.
The old roofs of houses in Bulls Place and Belfield Road have been replaced and finlock gutters removed where possible. Removing the finlock gutters should mean less heat is lost from the properties and it’s less likely for residents to have problems with condensation and mould. Where the finlock gutters were not able to be removed, we have applied lining to them to ensure they are watertight.
Other work in Pembury includes demolishing front boundary walls that were beyond economic repair and replacing them with smart new garden rail. This means that maintenance costs will be reduced for years to come too. We have also resurfaced and widened communal paths where the surfaces had deteriorated beyond repair. Not only will this be safer for all residents, it will allow better access for people with disabilities too. We have also repainted the outside of painted homes to smarten them up.
If you live in the areas listed above but work has not yet started please don’t worry you will receive a letter from our contractor George Jones in advance of the works, which are programmed to be completed by the end of March 2018.
