Creating a new vision for Showfields

Existing blocks at Showfields

Town & Country Housing is planning a new Showfields Estate and want to do this together with the local community.

We want to improve parts of the Tunbridge Wells estate and the communal areas providing modern, efficient new homes and updated community facilities.

Our aim is to create a safer and more welcoming environment for everyone.

To achieve this, we want to understand the local community’s aspirations for Showfields and make sure the final plan reflects residents’ priorities.

The consultation plan

We want to work with Showfields residents and the wider community to hear your views and develop ideas throughout the consultation process.

Are there things you like or things you want to change? There will be lots of opportunities to comment on the proposals as they develop. Your feedback can influence the final plans.

After we’ve consulted with, and listened to, everyone who wants to have a say, we hope to make a planning application to Tunbridge Wells Borough Council in late 2021.

Over time the flat and maisonette blocks have become difficult to maintain and now need a lot of work to bring them up to the standard we want for our homes.

If the scheme goes ahead,  some homes will be redeveloped, these homes are:

  • Flats in Hunters Way
  • Flats in Showfields Road
  • Flats Showfields Road
  • Flats Willow Tree Road

Phase 2 (From 2025)

  • Flats in Rowan Tree Road
  • Flats in Cherry Tree Road

Community and Social Value

We want to understand from residents what opportunities and activities you would like to be available on the estate. We’ll be talking to Number One Community Trust, Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, Kent County Council and other local groups, as well as residents, to look at ways to improve community facilities and services.

We’ll also be consulting with local groups to try to attract funding for projects on the estate and to create longer term training and employment opportunities.
