New homes bring fresh start at disused industrial site

A new development of affordable homes in Ashford has seen a former industrial site transformed into 14 family homes.

The scheme, situated on the corner of Austin Road and Rigden Road, will offer local families 10 three-bedroom houses and 4 two-bedroom houses for affordable rent.

The site was developed for industrial purposes in 1981 and remained in industrial use until it was destroyed by fire in 2007. Since then the site has remained unused. The homes have been designed with a contemporary feel with monopitch roofs and coloured render.

Each house has a private garden and two dedicated parking spaces and there is a children’s playground next to the development for the families to enjoy.

The homes, which are close to Ashford Designer Outlet and Ashford International Station, were handed over and let at the end of July
