Last month, Town & Country was pleased to hear that we had been highly commended in two categories at the Kent Housing Group Awards 2017.
Contracts & Compliance co-ordinator Mia Davis was highly commended in the Excellent Achievers category for her work to ensure that all of our homes have valid gas safety certificates. To support her team, she has worked on a number of projects to help them work more efficiently and worked with Countrywise Repairs to set up a new website for them. In addition to her day job, for the past three years she has completed an Open University degree in Business Administration.
Our Cookery Leader Training Project was highly commended in the Excellent Partnership category for its success in training leaders to teach others how to cook healthy people on a budget within their communities. The course, which was delivered by Community Chef Robin Van Creveld, aimed to equip people with the skills to set up cookery clubs or other food related community activities.
As a result of the training, host Oakley School now have a series of healthy eating events for pupils and families and a local community trust has already developed their menu to provide more healthy choices. A participant in East Kent has even been awarded a grant of £10,000 to run healthy cookery workshops across Thanet.
